Our Ethos

 

Calling The Shots was founded in 1998 by Steve Gear, Lizzie Minnion and Jeremy Routledge with a strong belief in the better representation of the UK population in the mainstream media and in less mediated access to TV production for that community. We believed that by training grassroots organisations in production skills using the new digital technology, we might contribute to easier access to TV for all.

 

Since then, of course, the explosion of the Web, social networking and video sharing websites have changed the landscape and. In some ways, brought the ‘user-generator’ culture far quicker than we ever imagined. However, looking at mainstream media and the Web today, we still believe the ethos is relevant and it continues to influence our company approach.
