Calling The Shots is an award-winning production company based in Bristol, UK. Established in 1998, CTS delivers broadcast, digital video and multiplatform projects for TV, corporate clients and education providers. CTS have a strong track record in talent development, documentary and factual programmes and recent clients include ITV West, Open University, UK Film Council and Channel 4.

Steve Gear
Steve Gear has over fifteen years experience of making films. He started his career as a youth worker and photographer. He has produced TV documentaries for HTV West and WTN and directed education and training films in Africa and China. Steve is an experienced project manager and a Creative Partnerships advisor.
Jeremy Routledge, Development Producer
Jeremy Routledge is a producer/director with 15 years experience of broadcast, corporate and educational production. Jeremy started CTS in 1998 with Steve and since then has produced work with ITV West, BBC3, BBC4, the UK Film Council and South West Screen.
James Young
James joined us at the end of 2009. In addition to media, he’s spent time studying fine art, obtaining a degree in the process. Subsequently, James has gained a masters in film production from Bristol University and came to CTS shortly after his graduation. He is a specialist in editing video and sound, with a wide knowledge of different camera formats.
Henriette “Heni” Berntsen
Heni hails from Eslöv, Sweden and is here with us for an extended work experience placement. She’s been involved in a lot of practical training since she came here, and is very interested in the projects that Calling The Shots have produced. In addition, Heni is also fascinated about the prospect of developing her skills in filming and editing.
Andrew Buchanan
Andrew is a CTS board advisor and executive producer. He brings us a wealth of experience having spent 40 years in the media business. Over the years he has worked in theatre, feature films as a location manager, TV drama and more recently his speciality, wildlife documentaries for the international market. Andrew has a big interest in sustainable TV and Film and works as an advisor for these technologies to be developed and used on a mass scale. Andrew also currently mentors documentary producers through the Discovery Documentary Campus.
